Osteosarcomatous De-differentiation of Low Grade Chondrosarcoma of Mandible –A Clinical Rarity
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction: Chondrosarcoma is a malignant cartilaginous tumour arising de novo in a bone or superimposed upon a pre – existing benign cartilaginous neoplasm. It makes up 10 % of malignant tumours of jaws. Case report: A case of de-differentiated chondrosarcoma of the anterior region of the mandible is presented, which was initially low grade variant and on recurrence it was turned to be a high grade variant of osteosarcomatous type with metastasis to lungs, along with a review of its prognostic factors. Conclusion: When occurring in the head and neck, it arise most frequently in the maxilla, less common sites of involvement are the mandibular body, symphysis, coronoid process and condylar processes. Recurrent tumour always forecast bad prognosis.

Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of Renal Pelvis Involving Ureter and Renal Parenchyma with Heterologous Osteosarcomatous Differentiation: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a high‑grade rare malignant tumor with both epithelial and mesenchymal components. Sarcomatoid carcinoma in the upper urinary tract is very rare. We reported here a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma of renal pelvis with osteosarcomatous differentiation, with involvement of the ureter and renal parenchyma in a 68-year-old female. Histologically, predominant pleomorphic spind...
متن کاملOsteosarcomatous differentiation in lung metastases from a malignant phyllodes tumour of the breast.
Osteosarcomatous differentiation of a phyllodes tumour in the breast is extremely rare. A 54 year old woman presented with a painless lump in her left breast and a mastectomy was performed. Microscopically, the tumour was diagnosed as a malignant phyllodes tumour, where no osteosarcomatous component was found. One year later, two lung tumours were revealed upon chest x ray and were surgically t...
متن کاملCharacterization of cartilaginous tumors with 201Tl scintigraphy.
UNLABELLED Histological diagnosis and grading of cartilaginous tumors are closely correlated with patient prognosis; consequently, they are essential elements. We attempted to clarify the characteristics of 201Tl uptake in various histological types of cartilaginous tumors and to assess its clinical value. METHODS Twenty-two cases with histologically proven cartilaginous tumors (3 enchondroma...
متن کاملPrimary orbital dedifferentiated liposarcoma with leiomyosarcomatous and low-grade osteosarcomatous differentiation
Liposarcoma originating in the orbit is extremely rare. Herein, we report a dedifferentiated lipo sarcoma arising from the orbit of a Chinese woman. This patient underwent tumor resection at the age of 56 years and recurred 50 months after the initial resection. Histologically, the initial lesion exhibited features of well-differentiated liposarcoma with focal areas of well-differentiated ossif...
متن کاملChondrosarcoma of the mandible--a case report.
Chondrosarcomas are malignant tumours of cartilaginous origin. They range from a well-differentiated growth resembling a benign cartilage tumour to a high-grade malignancy with aggressive local behaviour and the potential to metastasize. Only 5% to 10% of chondrosarcomas are known to occur in the head and neck region. A case of chondrosarcoma of the anterior region of the mandible is presented,...
